Two concerts in June mean a return to my piano practise, which always makes me feel like a real musician – actually making some sound! Much as I love arranging and conducting, I do miss making the noise myself.
11th June – Piano recital at Tudeley Church in Kent – Rachmaninov, Debussy and Ravel.
12th June Kammerspiel Trio concert at Brighton Pavillion. Beethoven C minor Trio Opus 1, no.3 and Mendelssohn Trio in D minor.
Unfortunately both concerts are private.
Having conducted this concert in 2009 and 2010 I returned this year to conduct for Joseph, Bryn Terfel, Claudio Baglioni and Leona Lewis. See photos of this concert by Claudio Muscat on my photos page.
This was a beautiful concert and it was an honour to conduct for such a legendary artist and lovely man. It also featured solos and duets with Italian soprano Gladys Rossi.
In 2006 I shared the podium at the Royal Albert Hall with the legendary John Barry in a concert of his music. We first met the night before and went out for dinner. We got on like a house on fire! A treasured memory.
