I had the great honour of conducting the Czech Philharmonic at the Dvorak Hall of the Rudolfinum in Prague and the Royal Philharmonic at Abbey Road for Sir Bryn’s new album – to be released on October 19th. In addition to many glorious solos it also has several duets with great artists of our day from many fields – Katherine Jenkins, Joseph Calleja, Alfie Boe, Danielle de Niese, Rob Brydon and Emma Thompson. The photo is from Abbey Road.
I had the great pleasure of assisting the legendary Michel Legrand in a concert of his music. Sadly this has turned out to be his last London appearance as he died on January 26th 2019 in Paris.
The Windmills of Your Mind, Summer of 42, The Thomas Crown Affair and many more of his classic film scores. For some pieces he played the piano whilst I conducted. During one round of applause he shook my hand and said “you just saved my life!” A concert I will never forget and I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity work meet and work with such a great artist.
Two days recording with the Czech Philharmonic in their glorious looking and sounding hall – the Dvorak Hall in the Rudolfinum, Prague and a day at Abbey Road with the RPO for a new album to be announced soon.
I’m delighted to announce that following the retirement of my agent, Jane Wynn Owen, I have now signed to the Harlequin Agency for all future work. Please see ‘Contact’ page for details.
More sessions at Abbey Road with the LSO planned soon.
Travelling to Moscow on 19th to rehearse at the International House of Music with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra for a concert with Katherine Jenkins on the 22nd.
29th August 2017 at Air Studios with the strings of the RPO, Kerenza Peacock (violin), Kath Jenkinson (cello) and Huw Watkins (piano). Oliver Davis in foreground.
2017 has seen two trips to Prague for recordings with the City of Prague Philharmonic and sopranos Margaret Keys and Joanne McGahon. The next big project for arranging, conducting and recording will be for Sarah Brightman – dates, orchestra and recording venue yet to be decided. I’m also delighted to have recorded with the RPO in August a third album of the music of Oliver Davis – a really good composer.
In March I conducted a ‘Gala’ concert for Sarah Brightman in Taiwan and now another in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
October saw a trip to Moscow to conduct for Katherine Jenkins and in November a concert in Liverpool with Sir Bryn Terfel, Ruthie Henshall and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
I returned to Prague on July 29th to conduct for Australian tenor Josh Piterman and Irish soprano Margaret Keys.
Arrangement of Star Wars for ‘Piano Battle’ – two pianos and orchestra just completed and now, also completed, some lovely Christmas songs for Anne Sofie von Otter, Daniel Hope and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra. Daniel Hope also recently commissioned an arrangement of America, The Beautiful for a concert with the New Century Chamber Orchestra in San Francisco.
