  1. Mr Hope’s expression when exchanging the melody of ‘La Vie en Rose’ with Mr Barenboim says everything. I have the impression that Daniel had placed himself in the lion’s den by embarking on a celebration of nationalism, but he skillfully negotiated his way through the labyrinth thanks, not just only to his own genius, but that of his accomplices, not least (tempted to say ‘above all,’ but hell, you can’t get more perfect than perfect) Mr Bateman.
    Thank You

    1. Dear Richard, I am most touched by your comment and very grateful for it. Daniel is always very good at mentioning my name for the arrangements. Many artists don’t do that and the arranger gets no credit. It’s nice therefore to know that the audience can appreciate the contribution that I have made and that my work can have a strong effect on their appreciation of the music. Apologies for the slow reply – I have only just seen your comment two months after you made it! With warmest wishes.
